Over 37 LP SmartSide® trim design layouts are available for the 9605 & 3650 base doors. Each design uses treated engineered wood trim applied to the base door to create a distinctive carriage house aesthetic. All designs are finished in white from the factory and may be repainted to match your home.

The LP SmartSide® trim on the 9605 & 3650 comes from the factory in White. This durable factory finish can be repainted to match or complement any home exterior color. Contact DOORTEC for guidance on compatible exterior paints.
The LP SmartSide® trim arrives in a white factory finish and is fully paintable using standard exterior paints. This allows homeowners to match any exterior color scheme. Contact your DOORTEC specialist for paint recommendations.

Decorative hardware kits come with four hinges and two pull handles. Double car doors come with two sets of decorative hardware kits. Additional accent pieces are available to match or complement each collection. Pull handle fit in center stile is dependent upon design and size of door.
The Wayne Dalton 9605 base door uses foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation — a process that bonds insulating foam directly to both steel skins in a single manufacturing step. This creates a rigid, rattle-free assembly that outperforms polystyrene insulation of the same thickness in both thermal resistance and sound attenuation. The result is a garage that stays measurably cooler in Oklahoma's summer heat and warmer during winter cold snaps.
A 25,000-cycle spring upgrade is available — giving you nearly twice the service life of a standard torsion spring. For households that use the garage door as a primary entry point, this option pays for itself in reduced maintenance calls over the life of the door.
The 9605 features horizontal integral struts at the top and bottom of each door section. These struts add structural backbone to the door, keeping panels from flexing or bowing over years of use and ensuring smooth, quiet operation cycle after cycle.
The DoorLink 3650 is a 2" thick sandwich panel door built to last. Key construction elements include:
Wayne Dalton's pinch-resistant panel joint design helps prevent injuries when fingers are accidentally placed near closing sections. The panel geometry deflects fingers away from pinch points — a safety innovation Wayne Dalton developed and pioneered for residential garage doors.
Both base doors include a bottom weather seal that blocks drafts, debris, and water intrusion along the floor line. The seal remains flexible even in Oklahoma's coldest conditions to maintain a consistent barrier year-round.
Insurance industry research shows that a significant percentage of residential weather damage begins with garage door failure during high-wind events. The 9605 is available with WindSafe® structural reinforcements that comply with the Florida Building Code, TDI (Texas Department of Insurance), and Miami-Dade County requirements — providing meaningful added protection during Oklahoma's severe storm season.

The 9605 & 3650 DT SmartSide Trim combination gives Oklahoma City homeowners the best of two worlds: the structural integrity and insulating performance of a premium steel door base, wrapped in the authentic warmth and texture of LP SmartSide® treated engineered wood trim. Unlike a true wood carriage door that requires regular sealing, painting, and protection from Oklahoma's weather extremes, the LP SmartSide trim is engineered to resist moisture, impact, and fungal degradation while delivering a deep cedar-grain surface that looks and feels like genuine wood.
Homeowners can choose between two high-quality base doors. The Wayne Dalton 9605 (BETTER) features foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation, integral struts, and pinch-resistant panel joints at an R-Value of 10. The DoorLink 3650 Flush Panel (BEST) steps up to a 2" thick sandwich panel construction with an R-Value of 10.25 and a flush face that pairs seamlessly with the SmartSide trim overlay. Both arrive in white factory finish and support the same extensive library of DT design layouts — over 37 unique trim configurations ranging from simple board-and-batten looks to elaborate multi-panel carriage designs.
DOORTEC has installed hundreds of DT SmartSide doors across Oklahoma City, Edmond, Norman, Moore, Yukon, Midwest City, Guthrie, El Reno, and Tulsa. Our specialists can show you physical samples of available DT design layouts at any of our showrooms, and our factory-trained technicians handle every installation with DOORTEC's workmanship guarantee behind it.
Both base doors deliver outstanding performance for a DT SmartSide Trim application, but there are meaningful differences worth considering. The Wayne Dalton 9605 uses a 1 3/8" double skin steel construction with foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation — a manufacturing process that chemically bonds the insulating foam to both steel skins, adding rigidity and sound dampening beyond what the R-Value number alone conveys. It also includes integral struts and Wayne Dalton's pinch-resistant panel joint design.
The DoorLink 3650 is the thicker option at 2" — a true sandwich panel door with polystyrene insulation, a pebble grain backskin interior, 20-gauge galvanized steel end caps, and tongue-and-groove meeting rails. Its flush face profile is an ideal match for the SmartSide trim overlay, creating a particularly clean finished appearance. At R-10.25, it edges out the 9605 in thermal performance as well.
